The High Tech Virtuoso: How Organ Building Has Influenced Organ Music & Performance Since 1850
Since the 19th century, technology has played an ever increasing role in organ building and especially console management.
Dr. Jens Korndörfer will discuss how devices like the French Appels (Cavaillé-Coll), the German Crescendo Walze (Sauer and Walcker) and the many features of 21st century state-of-the-art control systems such as the one in the renovated organ at FPC Atlanta (Syndyne) have influenced organ performance and composition. His program consists of pieces that reflect the interaction between technology and composition/performance.
Lecture-Recital for the Atlanta Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
